King of Paradise

I loved Mt. Crested Butte, Colorado, the first time I was there for a skiing expedition on a frigid pre-Christmas holiday. Later, we visited in the summer and I went on a few girls' trips to the area. So, it was only fitting that at some point I would set a novel there.

King of Paradise is a story of hidden identity, of a man who wants to be loved for himself and not for the fact that he does indeed hold the keys to a kingdom.

Once I received my rights back from my former e-publisher, I determined to update the books and release them once again. This time I'm proud to announce the release of Wedding Belle Blues.

I've styled this as a romantic comedy. There's nothing behind the bedroom doors, just a gentle falling into (or back into) love all over again.

T's Trial now available for iBooks and Nook

The subject line says it all. T's Trial, Book One in the Bone Cold--Alive series, is now available for iBooks and Nook as well as Kindle.

T's Trial had several iterations. Originally, I entitled it Heaven on a Kitestring and it was a Romance Writers of America Golden Heart finalist for unpublished works in Long Contemporary. Alas, it didn't win the category. Once it was published electronically, the title was Lyla's Song. When I took my rights back and re-edited it, I decided to title all of the books in the series from the hero's point of view. Hence, T's Trial, C's Comeuppance, Tib's Temptation, Ron's Run, Ian's Image, and Bo's Beauty.

Finally, I took C's Comeuppance, the second in my Bone Cold--Alive series, off its Kindle-only status and have added it to iBooks and Nook. T's Trial, the first in the series, will release from Kindle-only in March and then I'll have all of my books available everywhere.

My next single-title contemporary romance, One Year Past Perfect, is now available in the Kindle store and will be available on the Nook within a few days. Think of it as a modern riff on Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The back cover blurb:

Market research

A self-published author's work really only begins once she's written the book, added a cover and formatting, and found the appropriate channels for selling it. Then the work of telling the world (and not just the friends and relatives) begins. Where to market it? How? How much to spend? How do you know if it the expense was worth it?

Actually, I think the answer to the last question is the easy one. Have you cleared expenses (formatting, cover, editing) and made a profit?

That aside, the name of the game is marketing. I've tried various sites at various price points (Fiverr, Free Kindle Books and Tips, Smartbitchestrashybooks, Dear Author to name a few) with up-and-down results. So, on to the next one, ereadernewstoday.com.

I'll be advertising T's Trial for 99 cents there on Friday, May 22. In the meantime, the Kindle edition is already at 99 cents and will be through Tuesday. So, here's hoping the best marketing can work now: word of mouth.
